Arctic Monkeys

I remember listening to a podcast about this band a while ago and wondering when I would hear more about the Arctic Monkeys...

Well since then the British press has gone bananas over them - the most important album since Oasis Definitely Maybe - and now the album finished number 5 in a NME poll of the top albums ever. I definitely like the opening song "I Bet you Look Pretty Good on a Dancefloor" with it reference to the Montagues and the Capulets (which by the way I just saw Baz Luhrmann's version of Romeo and Juliet last weekend for about the tenth time...this is an amazing film). A couple of other songs are very good songs as well such as "Fake Tales from San Francisco" (aren't all tales from California fake?) and "Riot Van." But come on let's get real, this album does not belong in any conversation with the other albums on the NME list - Revolver, The Stone Roses, The Queen is Dead, Definitely Maybe. Frankly I like The Libertines album more than the Arctic Monkeys. But this album is definitely worth a listen and will probably stay in the rotation for a bit.

Last thought, how can a top 5 album of all time not have a song better than the best song on the new album by The Strokes - Heart in a Cage.

I've definitely been reading the hype about these monkeys for the last 2 months or so but have so far resisted. I've heard "Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" and listened to snippets of most of the other songs. What 2-3 songs would you say are the cream of the crop?
